A single mum from the Northern Territory says she will now be able to buy Christmas presents and pay her bills after receiving more than $2000 from Melbourne billionaire Adrian Portelli.
Portelli – known as ‘Lambo Guy’ – visited Palmerston Shopping Center on Tuesday to hand out thousands of dollars in vouchers to Coles shoppers.
The 35-year-old announced via Instagram that he would be giving away $100,000 worth of gift cards at the center.
One woman who was lucky enough to grab a voucher praised Portelli on Instagram, saying he made her family’s Christmas.
The single mum who waited in line for 12 hours not only got a $200 Coles gift card but also $2,000 in cash.
“A few days ago I didn’t know how I was going to make ends meet for xmas (sic) presents, food and bills,” she wrote on social media.
“To give so generously of your own abundance, even though you literally don’t have to, speaks volumes about your heart and the man you are.”
“My children and I are forever grateful.”
In response, Portelli urged anyone with financial means to give to those in need this Christmas.
“Every little bit helps,” he said.
This isn’t the first time the billionaire businessman has pulled it off.
Earlier this month he gave away about $150,000 at two shopping centers in western Sydney.
Portelli chartered a private jet to Sydney, handing out free supermarket vouchers in Penrith and Fairfield West.
He also previously handed out tens of thousands of dollars in gift vouchers to Coles shoppers in South Australia.
However, the latest giveaway is the first since Portelli and his popular club rewards company Xclusive Tech Pty Ltd, which trades as LMCT+, were charged by South Australia’s Consumer and Business Services.
Portelli was charged with nine counts of conducting or aiding the conduct of an illegal lottery, while his business was charged with 10 counts of the same offense.
Portelli is due to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on January 15.
The Consumer and Business Service alleges that illegal lottery activity took place between January 29, 2023. and May 16, 2024.
Court documents earlier this week revealed Portelli and LMCT+ were accused of running a lottery open to South Australian residents without a license to do so in the state.
Court documents detail alleged illegal sweepstakes for:
- a home seen on The Block in Gisborne, Victoria or a cash prize of $3,000,000
- car Devil Yellow HSV VZ valued over $5000
- a Toyota Landcruiser 79 series vehicle with Barcrusher 670c, worth about $228,000
- prize money of $250,000
- another Victorian property seen on The Block valued at approximately $2,900,000 or $2,500,000 in prize money
- home seen on The Block in Hampton East, Victoria, or a cash prize of $2,000,000
- $500,000 cash prize
- 2022 Toyota LC79 car worth about $150,000
- a Holden HSV WM Grange car worth about $40,000
- property at Coomera Waters on the Gold Coast in Queensland, valued at approximately $1,300,000 or prize money of $1,200,000
All 10 alleged illegal lotteries “include an element of chance”, meaning they fall under the category of trade promotion lotteries under the South Australian Lotteries Act 2019.
Portelli hosted a party at his $39,000,000 Melbourne penthouse just hours after he and LMCT+ were sued.
Showing off the $3 million McLaren he had driven up to his apartment while holding his young son, Portelli posted on Instagram with the caption: “Did someone say penthouse party.”
