Pets in holiday homes: Should this be allowed? This is what Australians think

Specifically, 31 percent of respondents answered no, because they believed that pets should not be allowed in holiday homes

Of all respondents, 22 percent said they weren’t sure, and many people shared that they thought it depended on the rental price and the owner.

“For vacation rentals, this should be up to the owner/manager of the property and consideration should be given to people renting a home with an animal allergy,” one person said in a response. Owners must indicate when an animal has been in a home. .

Another said trained pets “should be given some freedoms.”

“We’ve been taking ours for a few years now and we’re willing to pay that little bit extra for the privilege. Unfortunately, there are people who don’t mind…spoiling it.”

Many agreed that certain rental properties should allow pets, but not all.

“Pets in vacation rentals largely depend on what type of pet and what type of rental accommodations,” one person responded.

“I don’t have a pet, but I support people who do.”

Others emphasized that it is up to pet owners to be responsible when traveling with their animals

“Pet owners need to clean up after their dogs and take responsibility for the dogs’ behavior,” read one comment.

And some thought it should be limited.

“No loud, yapping animals that might disturb other people,” said one.

“The only animals allowed in vacation rentals are service animals,” said another.
