There are three important things you need to think about

Choose accommodation

“I think when you travel alone, where you stay is very important,” says Sami.

She says reading as many reviews as possible is crucial, as is choosing a good location, even if that means paying a little extra.

Sami also says that if you’re staying in an Airbnb or a similar vacation rental, make sure you don’t arrive late.

“Just in case you can’t find the key in the dark or you can’t figure out the code on the lock. And the hosts are not always available outside office hours,” she explains.

Avoid overpacking

An important one baggage error to avoid when traveling alone means packing too much.

“You don’t have anyone to help you with your luggage, to get that suitcase on and off the baggage carousel,” says Sami.

“Even when you travel through Europe by train. You have to get that suitcase on and off the train.”

The last thing you want is to stick your back out during your vacation.

Share your itinerary

But the most important thing Sami says to remember when traveling alone is to make sure someone else knows where you are at all times.

”Make sure you always share your itinerary with family and friends and give them as much information as possible about where you are going at any given time.”
