A look inside Lufthansa’s incredible invitation-only first class suites

Chances are 99.9 percent of us will never experience it for ourselves, but Lufthansa has revealed details of its brand new Allegris First class suites.

And those who are invited, yes, invited, to try the new cabins will fly in decent style.

Only three suites are being introduced to the fleet of A350-900s, two are individual suites, but the middle one, known as Suite Plus, is for two people passengers.

Passengers can sit next to each other or opposite each other. The seats can be folded out into a double bed of 1.4 meters wide, a real ‘cuddle class’. The walls are ceiling high and there is a fully lockable door for privacy.

The seats in the individual suites are also spacious, with a diameter of one meter.

Guests can heat or cool their seats, there is a large table and a huge 4K entertainment screen and wireless over-ear headphones. There is a wardrobe and individual lamps that allow travelers to “create their own feel-good atmosphere”.

Initially, the suites will be available by invitation only, but as more are added to the fleet of A350s they will be available for “targeted upgrades by passengers and later targeted bookings will be possible on a step-by-step basis.” It has not been announced how much the chairs will cost later.

The suites were designed by PriestmanGoode and director Daniel MacInnes said the team “pushed so many boundaries in the development of each of the cabins we created”.

“Lufthansa has not only demonstrated its commitment to bringing a premium product to market, they have challenged us to take it to a whole new level and every aspect has been designed and developed from the ground up.”

The first passengers to try the suites on a scheduled flight will be on the Munich to Bangalore service on November 9, and then to another Indian city Mumbai on November 15.

Another highlight for those flying in the pointy end is the introduction of VR headsets in the Business Class Suite.

The German carrier claims it is the “only airline in the world to exclusively offer content such as captivating cinema-style films, engaging VR 360-degree travel podcasts, interactive games and soothing relaxation exercises”.
