The dramatic moment was captured by surveillance cameras in the picturesque area of Oytagh Glacier Park in the Akto district.
The video shows a huge mass of snow descending from Chakragil Peak in the Kunlun Mountains of northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region at 6pm on Thursday.
As the avalanche developed, the snow quickly accumulated, forming a tall “snow wall” tens of meters high and covering the entire valley in less than a minute.
Fortunately, the avalanche occurred in an uninhabited high-altitude area, so there are no reports of injuries or casualties
Chakragil, located at an altitude of more than 6,000 meters above sea level, is constantly covered with snow.
The region has recently experienced heavy snowfall, resulting in the accumulation of snow thick enough to trigger an avalanche.
