A man was arrested after he was found to be carrying a weapon while trying to enter the Capitol Visitor Center in Washington DC.
Police stopped a man during a security check after smelling fuel on him.
He was searched and the authorities found a torch and a torch on him.
Public tours have since been canceled for the rest of the day while police investigate the incident.
The arrest comes as authorities are on heightened alert due to security concerns around the capital and have stepped up patrols in downtown areas and near the White House around Election Day.
