Oscar winner Jeff Bridges’ response to Trump’s victory

Jeff Bridges can always be counted on to be an eternal optimist.

The Big Lebowski actor shed some light on how he currently maintains a positive mental attitude when he appeared on Monday episode from “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

“I was as disappointed as you were,” Bridges told host Jimmy Kimmel, referring to the results of last week’s US election. He added that he is also “going through a grieving process” because of it.

As he goes through it, he said, he now feels called to be a “brave person.”

“So I’m looking for a community that shares my dream of what the world could be and I’m going along with that, doing my best to create that dream,” Bridges said.

To this end, Bridges spoke about Share our strengthorganization that helps “children, families and communities through our No Kid Hungry campaign – and works on the root causes of hunger to create greater financial security for families,” according to their website.

As the national spokesperson for the No Kid Hungry campaign, Bridges told Kimmel that this is what he feels he is “called to do, share our strength” through his advocacy work.

Earlier in the interview, Bridges recalled the US Coast Guard motto, “Semper Paratus”, meaning “always ready” or “always prepared,” which he learned when he served as a member of the Reserve from 1967 to 1975.

With this motto in mind, Bridges said he found himself thinking about how he can prepare in these times.

“Well, life. This is part of life. You have ups and downs, strikes and gutters,” he said, apparently referring to The Big Lebowskithe famous film in which he acts. “This is how we roll to be alive.”
