Now travel experts have revealed TripAdvisor’s top picks hidden gem attractions to add to your hit list on your next trip.

The travel and luggage experts at Bounce analyzed a variety of attractions in Australia using Tripadvisor data to reveal the top-rated attractions across the country.

The Panorama Garden Estate in Borneo, Victoria, was crowned the number one hidden gem destination in Australia, with 95.89 percent of Tripadvisor reviewers rating it ‘excellent’.

The 55 hectare private garden and nature reserve offers panoramic views stretching over 100 kilometers across Bass Straight and Port Phillip Bay.

Located on the Mornington Peninsula, just an hour’s drive away Melbournethe estate has introduced more than 20,000 plants and 80,000 tonnes of stone with 18 separate gardens including lakes, streams and waterfalls.

There are many animals to see, including rare albino kangaroos, wallabies and alpacas, as well as native and pet birds such as peacocks, amis, geese and parrots.

Panorama Garden Estate is currently closed as they build an exciting new addition Azure on Panorama which is scheduled to open in November.

Speaking of animals, the country’s second best hidden gem according to visitors is The Kangaroo Sanctuary, in Alice Springs, Northern Territory.

The Kangaroo Sanctuary is home to Brolga, the star of Kangaroo Dundee, which follows the exciting lives of rescued kangaroos and other wildlife. The center is a vast nature reserve for the rehabilitation of baby and adult kangaroos and offers guided sunset tours to learn about and celebrate the iconic Red Kangaroo.

Visitors can meet the characters from the show while walking through the reserve’s 188-acre nature reserve. The sanctuary is listed as No. 1 of 69 things to do in Alice Springs and also received the 2020 Travellers’ Choice Award, thanks to its excellent ratings of 95.27 percent.

The Northern Territory is actually the Australian state with the most hidden gems, according to the research, with an 8.47 percent hidden gem rate in the city.

In third place is Ernest Hill Wines, in Nulkaba, New South Wales. The family-owned Hunter Valley premium wine producer is ranked number one of nine things to do in Nulkaba and received the 2024 Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award.

Visitors can also take advantage of the picnic area and enjoy beautiful views over the vineyard, with kangaroos grazing under the trees. So it’s no surprise that 93.69% of reviewers rated it ‘excellent’.

The research also found that Toowoomba, a city in the Darling Downs region of southern Queensland, is the most popular hidden gem destination overall, with 937,500 searches in the past 12 months.
