The body of former One Direction singer Liam Payne will be returned to the United Kingdom after it was handed over to his family, authorities in Argentina have confirmed.
The 31-year-old died last month after falling from a third-floor hotel balcony in the city of Buenos Aires.
His body was released to his family today by public prosecutor Andres Madrea, the BBC reports.
Payne suffered external and internal bleeding and traumatic injuries from the fall, an autopsy previously confirmed.
His body remained in Argentina while authorities conducted further toxicology and laboratory tests.
Payne rose to fame as a member of One Direction, the boy band based on the British television series The X factor in 2010.

After each singer failed to make it through the competition as a solo act, Simon Cowell and his fellow judges brought Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson together to form one of the best-selling boy groups of all time.
