Individual trips has seen a huge increase and is certainly the trend by 2024, with women in particular driving growth.
In fact, reports show that 84 percent of solo travelers are women.

“Solo travel allows for more flexibility and the ability to design itineraries based on just you, what you want to do and where you want to go, focusing entirely on your own interests; it’s liberating,” Emma tells 9Travel.
For women, the need for personal growth and mental health or career breaks are some of the biggest reasons they choose to travel alone.
”Increasing independence, personally and financially, and empowerment are other reasons,” says Emma.
There has also been more emphasis placed on the possibility of it even being possible.
“There is more focus on solo female travel, which makes it feel safer and more ‘normal’. There are also more companies that specifically target female solo travelers.”

“Some destinations are considered better for solo female travelers due to safety, cultural acceptance and ease of navigation,” says Emma.

5. Schedule tours: Group tours are a great way to meet others, but you may learn more on a private tour.
6. Be courageous: Look for opportunities to interact with locals.
7. Don’t be afraid to ask: Just as you would help someone in your country in need, people will do the same for you.
8. Eating alone is okay: Enjoy the atmosphere, have a chat with others or read your book. Good idea to sit at the bar to eat if possible – fun to watch the bartender and easy to talk to others.
9. Send yourself an email: You will need a copy of your passport and other crucial information, such as login details or bank details. If necessary, you can easily request this remotely.
