“I pack my whole life in my carry-on,” Sami admits.

Here are her best packing tips

Roll does not fold

If you’re still folding your clothes in your suitcase, you’re doing it wrong, according to Sami (and science).

“I don’t know why anyone is still debating this,” she says. “You can definitely fit more when you roll. Isn’t that scientifically proven?”

Take a ziplock bag with washing powder

It’s a basic requirement for laundry at home, but Sami says having a small sachet of washing powder with you will always come in handy.

“You get to a destination. Maybe you can’t find a laundromat or you can’t find a supermarket. And if you do, you have to buy a whole box of washing powder,” she explains.

“But if you bring a bag of washing powder from home, you can wash your laundry and small items in the sink of your hotel room.”

Printed copies of important documents

“I always make sure I make copies of my itinerary, my flights, and my accommodation information, just in case I don’t have access to it on my phone,” says Sami.

The same goes for access to your travel insurance contact details and a telephone number, in case you need to make an emergency claim.

Earplugs are your best friend

Sami says she “can’t leave the house” without earplugs for the plane.

“You know you have a snorer two rows in front of you and you can’t sleep,” she points out.

But they also come in handy in a hotel if it has thin walls and you have the banquet room next door.

“Earplugs are your best friend.”
