Mike Tyson is one of the greatest boxers to ever step into the ring, but his time on the big stage won’t end in defeat.
The 58-year-old was outclassed by YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in the ATandStadium T on Saturday, and the judges’ scores “unsurprisingly” go in favor of the latter.
The final score was 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73.
Tyson fought with a strap around his knee and looked like he had trouble moving at several points in the fight, possibly caused by the injury he was carrying.
With a professional record of 50-6 before entering the ring, Tyson seemed to be a huge fan favorite both in and around the arena.
44 of his wins came by knockout and two by no-contest, but his performance against Paul could not compare to his best.
In a response that shocked the boxing world, the former world champion admitted that his time in the sport is not coming to an end.
“I don’t know, it depends on the situation,” he told Netflix when asked if he would return to the ring.
With his statement, he would probably compete again at the age of 60.
Tyson revealed that he would consider fighting Paul’s brother Logan, who is signed to wrestle with WWE, if given the chance.
When asked what message he would give to others his age about competing on the professional boxing stage, Tyson replied: “It’s going to be very difficult, but if I can (fight), I wish you the best.”
