Australia’s bid for its first rugby union Grand Slam in 40 years is over.
The Wallabies lost 27-13 to Scotland on Monday (AEDT) to end their hopes of a winning streak on their season-ending tour of Britain and Ireland.
They previously beat defeated England and Wales and will finish their tour in Ireland next week.

Adding to Australia’s woes was the sight of Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii, the team’s new star, going off injured in the first half at Murrayfield after injuring his right hand in a tackle on Scotland captain Sione Tuipulotu.
Australian-born Tuipulotu was one of four goals for Scotland while Harry Potter – the 18th debutant of 2024 for the Wallabies and the target of pre-match puns over his name – went over as a late consolation for the tourists.
The Scots ended their autumn campaign with three wins from four, with wins over Fiji and Portugal.
They were defeated 32-15 by the world champion South Africa.
The current bunch of Aussies were looking to emulate the class of 1984, who won the Grand Slam at the end of the year, but were unable to cope with some brilliant finishing from Scotland.
Tuipulotu played in front of his 77-year-old grandmother, Jaqueline, for the first time after she flew in from Melbourne for the occasion.
He marked it by running to the long line and breaking through two tackles to cross for the converted try to make it 7-3.
Huge winger Duhan van der Merwe scored Scotland’s second try — his record 30th in 44 Tests — and Josh Bayliss raced over from the right after a break by winger Darcy Graham to put the hosts 22-6 up.
Scotland flyhalf Finn Russell then added a game-best fourth try, finishing off a flowing run of passes by running onto a Blair Kinghorn break and slotting over.
England-born Potter marked his debut by pouncing on a shot over the top of the Scottish defense and touching down just before losing contact.
