One of the first and warmest messages came from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose relationship with Trump is crucial given the conflict in the region.

Ukraine and Russian leaders
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Trump and said he appreciated his commitment to “peace through strength.” It is unclear how much influence Trump could have on the war in Ukraine.
“I remember our great meeting with President Trump in September, when we discussed in detail the Ukrainian-American strategic partnership, the Victory Plan and ways to stop Russian aggression against Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said on X.
Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is interested “in developing mutually beneficial political and economic cooperation that will benefit both our nations.”
“We look forward to an era of a strong United States of America under the determined leadership of President Trump.
“I appreciate President Trump’s commitment to the ‘peace through strength’ approach in global affairs. This is exactly the principle that can practically bring a just peace in Ukraine closer. I hope that we will put it into practice together.”
It is not clear whether Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to congratulate Trump.
Ahead of the call for the presidential race, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he had no information about communications between the two leaders, but stressed that Moscow views the US as an “enemy” country.
Peskov confirmed the Kremlin’s claim that US support for Ukraine equates to its involvement in the conflict, telling reporters: “Let’s not forget that we are talking about an enemy country that is directly and indirectly involved in a war against our country.”
Asked if Putin’s failure to congratulate Trump could hurt ties, Peskov replied that Russian-American relations were already at “the lowest point in history,” adding that new US leadership would change the situation. He noted Putin’s statements about Moscow’s readiness for “constructive dialogue based on justice, equality and readiness to take into account mutual interests.”
Peskov addressed Trump’s campaign statements about his intention to end wars, saying “those were important statements, but now after the victory, as he prepares to enter the Oval Office or enters the Oval Office, statements can sometimes change.”
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese wrote on X about the relationship with the USA.
“Congratulations to President Donald Trump on his election victory,” he wrote.
“Australians and Americans are great friends and true allies. By working together, we can ensure that the partnership between our nations and peoples remains strong well into the future.”
Federal Opposition Leader Peter Dutton congratulated Trump and said Americans and Australians were united by “the patriotism that drives us and the pragmatism that defines us”.
“The United States has been an overwhelming force for good in the world. When our close ally is strong and at its best, the world is at its best,” Dutton said on X.
“Let the coming years be some of the most important for our Alliance in which, guided by the tests of our time, the necessity of deterrence and the goal of securing peace through force, we unleash the defense, industrial and economic capabilities of AUKUS at speed and scale.”
Greens leader Adam Bandt did not congratulate Trump and said the election was “a pretty scary outcome for a lot of us.”
“In times like these, it can be easy to feel defeated. But there is too much at stake to give up hope,” Bandt said on Xu.
“We must come together and continue our fight for people and the planet.
“My heart goes out to every person in the US and around the world who is feeling justified terror tonight.
“Take care of your loved ones. Tomorrow we will pick ourselves up and continue the fight.
French President Emmanuel Macron announced on X: “Ready to work together as we have been able to do for four years. With your convictions and mine. With respect and ambition. For more peace and prosperity.”
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said she looks forward to working with Trump again.
The EU and the US “are more than allies. We are bound by a true partnership between our people, uniting 800 million citizens,” she said.
“We are working together on a transatlantic partnership that continues to deliver results for our citizens. Millions of jobs and billions in trade and investment on each side of the Atlantic depend on the dynamism and stability of our economic relationship,” she said in a statement.
Tariffs imposed by Trump on steel and aluminum exports during his last term roiled the bloc’s economy.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said he looked forward to working with Trump “to advance peace through strength.”
“We are facing an increasing number of challenges at the global level, from an increasingly aggressive Russia, through terrorism, to strategic competition with China, as well as the increasing integration of China, Russia, North Korea and Iran,” Rutte said.
“Working together through NATO helps deter aggression, protect our collective security and support our economies,” he added.
Rutte also praised Trump for his work during his first term to convince America’s NATO allies to increase defense spending.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer showed a little more enthusiasm for Trump’s victory.
“Congratulations to President-elect @realDonaldTrump on your historic election victory. I look forward to working with you in the years to come,” Starmer wrote.

However, British MP Ed Davey, leader of the Liberal Democrats, took X to share a very different opinion.
“This is a dark, dark day for people around the world,” he wrote.
“The world’s largest economy and most powerful military will be led by a dangerous, destructive demagogue.
“The next president of the United States is a man who is actively undermining the rule of law, human rights, international trade, climate action and global security.
“Millions of Americans – especially women and minorities – will be incredibly frightened by what comes next. We stand with them.
“Families across the UK will also worry about the damage Trump will do to our economy and our national security, given his record of starting trade wars, undermining NATO and emboldening tyrants like Putin.”
He said it was crucial for the UK to strengthen trade and defense with Europe “to protect ourselves from the damage that Trump is going to do”.
